Mancelona Buck Pole

The Mancelona Buck Pole welcomes hunters and non-hunters this weekend for the 60th anniversary as one of the most popular and best attended hunting events in northern Michigan.

The Buck Pole opens Saturday, November 15 at day break, and closes November 16 at 6:30 p.m. It is held in downtown Mancelona at the traffic light on US 131 at M-88.

Hunters gather every year to share stories, photos and enjoy the warming tent, food booths, bonfire and chances to win great cash prizes, including a top price of $1,000 cash.

For a $5 registration fee, each hunter receive a cap, patch and photo with theirdeer. Deer are hung on the pole for chances to win cash prizes in a variety of categories.

The bonfire will be stoked up and keeping everyone warm, and there will be a warming tent for hanging out. The concession stand will have chili, sloppy joes, hot dogs, popcorn, beverages and desserts, along with a display of photos from past buck pole contests.

For more information and rules for the Buck Pole, see the Mancelona Chamber of Commerce website.
